Hungry Machine · Sports Apps

Your match, broadcast like TV and analysed like the pros.

Hungry Machine gives school and club sport what only professional teams used to get: TV-style graphics on the live stream, your sponsor painted on the grass, and an AI match analysis of every try, set piece, card and turnover, ready to share the same evening.

Built in South Africa. Built for sport. Built to scale.

  • Six years producing live school sport as a preferred supplier to SuperSport Schools
  • In partnership with Phoenix Sports Group

What we do

We turn the match footage that already exists into something people actually use.

Every weekend, school and club games across South Africa are streamed, watched once and forgotten. Hungry Machine makes those streams look like television while they are live, then turns them into analysis afterwards: what happened, when, and who did it. Coaches get hours of tagging done in minutes, parents find the moments that matter, and players build a record that travels with them. Rugby is where we started; the same platform is built for hockey, water polo and the rest of the school sports calendar.

  • The footage is already there. Most school matches are filmed and streamed. Almost none of it is ever looked at again.
  • This is where careers start. Coaches, selectors and agents decide on what they can see. A timestamped record of a player's season gets them seen.
  • Sponsors pay for what viewers see. A scoreboard, cards and a logo on the grass turn a school stream into something a sponsor will put money behind.

Who it's for

  • Family on the touchline

Dad, uncle, big brother or old boy: stop scrubbing through a 70-minute stream for one tackle. Jump straight to his tries and big hits, and send them to the family WhatsApp group.

  • Players

Your season on record. Every try, tackle and turnover with a timestamp, ready for the highlights reel when it's time to get noticed.

  • Coaches

From the under-14Bs to the first XV, the stats you'd spend Sunday tagging: set pieces, turnovers, discipline and possession, with a timeline you can click through, correct and send to the squad as one link.

  • Agents & scouts

Judge players on evidence, not word of mouth. Timestamped actions across matches show what a player does, and how often, in a few clicks.

  • Pro-am broadcasters

Look like a TV channel on an OBS budget. Live score, clock, cards, subs and sponsor graphics on the grass, all run from one control room.

How match analysis works

Bring the match from wherever it lives.

Paste a link or upload the recording from your phone. Hungry Machine watches the match, tags what happened and hands you a report you can check and share. Already watching on SuperSport Schools? The share link for the game is all we need: no downloading, no re-uploading to YouTube.

  1. Add the match. A SuperSport Schools share link, a YouTube or public video link, or a file from your phone or camera.
  2. We analyse it. The AI tags every try, set piece, card and turnover against the clock. Your first match is on us.
  3. Get the report. Every try, set piece, card and turnover with a timestamp. Click to the moment, fix any call, then send coaches, players and parents one link. No account needed to open it.

Over this time, Jonathan has developed a deep understanding of not only how sports are broadcast, but how audiences experience sport online. His focus has increasingly shifted towards improving the viewer journey — making broadcasts more engaging, accessible and connected to the communities, teams and athletes behind the action.

This experience has helped shape the thinking behind Hungry Machine Sports Apps: a new generation of digital platforms designed to bring together live streaming, sports content, communities and the broader fan experience.

Hungry Machine is the result of six years of asking a simple question: how can we make watching and experiencing sport online better?

Partner & Tech Lead

Lebogang "Lebz" Miya is the technologist behind Hungry Machine's platform. He designed and built the Hungry Machine broadcast overlay and match-analysis system: live scoreboard overlays that drop straight into OBS and vMix, a producer control room for running a match in real time, Gemini-powered match analysis, on-pitch graphics that stick to the field of play, and post-match reports that reach coaches and parents the same evening.

As a tech lead across multiple organisations and the founder behind HereYouGo, Lebz has spent his career turning ambitious ideas into products people actually use. His background in music and video gives him an instinct for how a broadcast should look, sound and feel — not just how it should work.

At Hungry Machine, he brings that mix of engineering and creative direction to every product: fast, reliable tools for the people running the broadcast, and a richer, more connected experience for the fans watching it.

Lebz builds from a simple belief: great technology should disappear behind the moment, so the sport — and the community around it — takes centre stage.

Hungry Machine — powering the next generation of sport.
